Our Transformative Journey Across the Globe
We are a flight attendant and pilot couple that love to travel overseas in our spare time. We are especially passionate about traveling to places that are “off the beaten path” or “hidden gems” that are not always in demand by the masses of travelers. These destinations are often misunderstood or overlooked because they are often surrounded by mystery.
I traveled to several countries before I went on a tour to the country that changed me forever. That country was Croatia. Afterward, I lived in Slovenia (Balkan country in the former Yugoslavia, also neighboring Croatia) and experienced life in a very special way. Besides being a beautiful country, this experience led me to understand that I did not enjoy the fast-paced and demanding way of life that I had come to know. I had set expectations for the wrong things. Instead of valuing experiences, I put too much value on “stuff.” I was convicted, and my philosophy changed.
I traveled to every Balkan country while living in Slovenia and arranged tours for American friends, colleagues, and family. I became very interested in “other” countries and people that were more exotic than what I had grown accustomed to. Traveling across borders was an incredible thing for me. It conquered fear. It helped release freedom inside of me that reached beyond the borders I had placed on myself. These borders hide in the hearts and minds of people. Travel transforms these limitations into a different persuasion. We do not hide anymore; we do not fear the “unknown” any longer. It is actually a miracle.
I have since moved back to the United States and am still flying. I met my husband while at work. He is a pilot and a citizen of Switzerland (dual citizenship). His mom and dad are immigrants from Europe. He grew up knowing different cultures, traditions, and languages. As such, he and I share a common interest in culture, traveling, and exploring this beautiful world we live in.
Since we have been together, we have traveled to beautiful countries, researching and planning our journeys every step of the way. We love sharing these adventures with others. I enjoy the research and planning of travel. I love to see how travel can expand and change a person into beautiful, once unimaginable, sentiments.
